The Haus der Astronomie is the result of a public-private partnership. We are grateful to our partners and supporters for making our work possible.

Founding partners

The Founding Partners of Haus der Astronomie are the Klaus Tschira Foundation (KTF) and the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science (MPG). KTF has been responsible for the construction of the HdA building and, in addition, is sponsoring the building's basic equipment. MPG operates the HdA, a task it has delegated to the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy.

Partners

Additional partners are the City of Heidelberg (via the Stiftung Jugend und Wissenschaft GmbH) and the University of Heidelberg, whose Center for Astronomy is a close collaborator of Haus der Astronomie.

The Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts as well as the Ministry for Education, Youth and Sports of the State of Baden-Württemberg support the project.

Cooperation partners

Two of our principal collaborators are the astronomy magazine Sterne und Weltraum, in particular concerning the project Wissenschaft in die Schulen! (literally "Science into the Schools!"), and he volunteer association Astronomieschule e.V. Haus der Astronomie is the German node of the ESO Science Outreach Networks.

Supporters

We are grateful to the Wilhelm und Else Heraeus-Stiftung for supporting our acquisition of telescopes for our high school observation programme as well as hardware for video and audio productions, to the Reiff-Stiftung für Amateurastronomie for supporting workshops and the astronomical section of "Wissenschaft in die Schulen," and Baden-Württemberg Stiftung for their support of hands-on kits for infrared astronomy and for astronomy in elementary schools.
